Combative Rep. Kolubah Bundled from Session -For Refusing to Recognize Richard Koon as Speaker -Vows to Disrupt Session Until SC Mandate is Respected

MONROVIA – Montserrado County’s controversial District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah today reached the zenith of his national disgrace when he was bodily ejected by the Sergeant-at-Arms and his deputies during the House regular Tuesday session presided over by the Majority Bloc-elected Speaker Richard Koon and his Deputy, Representative Thomas Fallah.

Due to the recent Capitol Hill fire outbreak that left the Capitol Building burnt, members of House of Representatives, who had been meeting at the Monrovia City Hall to hold regular sessions, got a rude awakening yesterday Tuesday when Representative Kolubah unceremoniously disrupted the beginning of session by refusing to recognize Speaker Richard after he was given the microphone to state his reason objecting have the agenda accepted as a working document for the day’s deliberation.

As soon as Yekeh received the microphone after Speaker Koon had read the session’s agenda, called for a motion to accept the agenda for deliberation, and another representative attempted to move that the agenda be accepted as a working document for the day’s deliberation, Representative Kolubah stood and objected, to which he was given the microphone to state his objection.

Receiving the microphone, Yekeh, instead of addressing Speaker Koon, said: “Mr. Deputy Speaker…” But the other lawmakers did not allow him to speak as they rushed on him to tussle the microphone from his hand. Other lawmakers, sensing that Representative Kolubah was in full combative mode to disrupt the session, began shoving him left and right, which prompted the Sergeant-at-Arms and his two deputies to intervene and calm the situation, but to no avail.

As the tension escalated with the other lawmakers ruffling Representative Kolubah up, he too continued to rain invectives on Speaker Koon, stating that as far as he is concerned, Fonati Koffa remains the legitimate Speaker of the 55th Legislature, and that he won’t ever sit under a “junta” leadership.

At that point, the Sergeant-at-Arms and his deputies lifted Representative Korlubah in the air and hustled him outside of the Monrovia City Hall onto the driveway where his vehicle was parked.

Furious, frustrated and seemingly confused over the ignominy he encountered when none of his colleagues from the Rule of Law Legislative Caucus could come to his rescue, Representative Kolubah stood in the driveway of the MCC to rant and rave about what he considered a complete miscarriage of justice.

“Let me tell you something today. The Supreme Court ruling is very clear. Richard Koon is not the Speaker of this House; and he can never be the Speaker of this House. I will come here again on Thursday. I will disrupt until they can respect the Supreme Court ruling. These people, they are juntas. As long as they keep behaving like juntas, I will keep dealing with them,” Representative Kolubah fumed as he called away from the media.

Public Reactions

The public did not waste time to react to the manhandling of Representative Kolubah, with many expressing happiness over his comeuppance.

According to former President George Weah’s special aide Sekou Kalasco Damaro , it is good that Representative Kolubah got a taste of his own medicine.

“During the CDC Regime, Yekeh was given the stage to shine, his rights were respected and the government made sure that he was never harmed. I, personally, can attest to the day President Weah threatened his officials and warned them about going after Yekeh. He told one of his officials in a private chat room that if anything happens to Yekeh, he will face unimaginable consequences, yet Yekeh took Pres. Weah’s kindness for granted.

“Now he’s been treated the complete opposite by the government he brought to power. He has been beaten, tear gassed, pepper sprayed and dragged by state security on several occasions. Never take a powerful man’s kindness as weakness. Chicken coming home to roost doesn’t make me sad, it makes me glad,” Kalsaco stated with glee.

“Yekeh Kolubah, please go ahead and tell the Supreme Court to reject their budget line in the national budget, since it was passed by a junta majority block of the House of Representatives,” Shedrick Mondyu said.

“Are you the one to enforce the Supreme Court ruling? Did the court ask you to enforce its ruling, or you are the sheriff for the court, Mr. Noise Maker,” James Yuwolo Clarke, Sr., said.

“Stranger has many laws, but the host has only one. Since you will keep disrupting, you will be pushed out everyday. Lastly, you will be flogged,” Isaac Fatorma, Jr., said.

“Do you see Representative Abu Kamara, Representative Seboe Dixon and other lawmakers who were blacklisted coming here to cuss and disturb? The trouble Yekeh is looking for he will get it,” Adama Mansaray stated furiously.
