Dumoe Concedes Defeat in Bong Senatorial Elections -Will Support New Leadership

 By Patrick S. Tokpah

Following provisional counting of ballots Tuesday which placed Collaborating Political Parties’ Bong County senatorial candidate Prince K. Moye in a comfortable lead, Bong County senatorial hopeful and acting chairman of the Council of Patriots, Mr. Menipakei Dumoe, has conceded defeat in the just ended 2020 senatorial elections and National Referendum.

Dumoe has already congratulated Deputy Speaker Prince K. Moye for his preferment in the 2020 Senatorial race in Bong County, while lauding the citizens and supporters in the county for their support to his senatorial quest.

The Bong County defeated senatorial candidate has vowed to continue supporting leaders of the county in terms of development.

He further called on Representative Moye to reconcile the county and its leaders, adding, the county will only develop if leaders and citizens are reconciled.

Dumoe ran his campaign largely on a call for the release of jailed former President Charles Taylor, under whose leadership the National Patriotic Party (NPP) flourished.

Bong County, which still remains a Taylor/NPP stronghold, witnessed an intriguing power play during these elections, with Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor outrightly refusing to support the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) candidate, incumbent Senator Henry Yallah, in his re-election bid.

Prior to the elections, rumors were circulating that Madam Taylor was secretly supporting Mr. Dumoe.
