LIS to Graduate First Recruits at Joseph Boakai Training Academy

MONROVIA – All roads lead to Foya District, Lofa County for the commencement convocation of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) first recruits trained at the Joseph N. Boakai Training Academy in that side of the country this weekend.

According to LIS Acting Commissioner General Honorable Elijah F. Rufus, all is now set by the Government of Liberia (GOL) to graduate 500 trained recruits at the institution training academy in Foya, Lofa County.

The recruits have been trained in basic immigration formalities for six weeks. They were trained to replace the over 300 old officers of the LIS that were earmarked by the Servant Civil Agency (CSA) for retirement by this year.

Providing information to newsmen on December 3, 2024 at the Ministry of Information Culture and Tourism (MICAT) regular press briefing held on Capitol Hill, Monrovia, the LIS Acting boss reaffirmed LIS commitment in protecting Liberia from illegal entry and other crimes within the Western region.

 He said following the recruits’ graduation plans are underway by the LIS administration to deploy them across the country.

LIS Acting Commissioner General noted that his team has concluded discussion with the Government of Liberia for the salaries payment of the recruits beginning the 2025 budget year of the institution.

He said upon the recruits’ graduation on December 7, 2024, LIS will begin the distribution of uniform sets and other working materials for the new officers.

CG Rufus used the MICAT platform to applaud the Government of Liberia for its support given the LIS to conduct training of new recruits during the time when it was necessary to fill in the gaps of manpower created by CSA retirement plan.

According to information gathered, the Minister of Justice will grace the occasion and serve as the occasion keynote speaker.
