MONROVIA – Critical minds and opposition actors must have been extremely angered by the re-fixing of petroleum policy, mainly terminal storage new pricing. There has been an enormous outpour of ire and disgust about the move, with media channels in the country charged by the resultant uproars. Some have been stating, re-stating themselves over and over, and demanding rescindment of the action. Congress or Democratic Change Secretary General Jefferson Tamba Koijee is one person doubling down on the ruling establishment, as The Analyst reports.
Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) secretary general Jefferson Koijee is not relenting at all in overly expressing his disenchantment at the ruling Unity Party, through the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company, for setting new tags for petro commodities and terminal storages, something almost widely seen by those with political and economic eyes to be unscrupulous and mischievous.
Since this week, Koijee has been sounding particularly bitter and unpolished in a series of commentaries describing the new policies as cunning and ill-fated.
In the latest commentary, the CDC scribe wrote: “Fellow Liberians, history has shown us that no empire, no cartel of oppressors, no regime of exploiters can stand forever against the will of a determined people. In 1954, in the distant valleys of Vietnam, a peasant army carrying supplies on their backs and fueled only by the spirit of liberation brought one of the greatest colonial powers to its knees at Điện Biên Phủ. That victory was not just for Vietnam, it was a message to the entire world that determination, unity, and courage can overcome cannons, planes, and money.”
“Today, here in Liberia, we face our own Điện Biên Phủ. The Unity Party cartel and its economic gangsters are using state institutions, looting public resources, and mortgaging our future just to keep themselves in power. They believe that because they sit in offices and control the treasury they can silence the cry of the people. But like the French in 1954, they are mistaken.
“Let it be clear. No amount of stolen petroleum dollars will buy the conscience of a nation that has decided to rise. No fraudulent contract will defeat the spirit of a people who know the difference between right and wrong. Just as the Viet Minh stood in the hills and valleys, we too will stand in the streets, the communities, the villages, and the cities of Liberia until justice and accountability prevail.
“Điện Biên Phủ was not just a battle, it was a statement. And our statement to the Unity Party today is simple: you cannot steal our dignity, you cannot sell our resources to enrich a few, and you cannot rig the will of the Liberian people in 2029. The people’s resolve is stronger than your fraud, and like those who thought they were invincible in 1954, you will fall under the weight of your own arrogance.
“Long live the spirit of resistance. Long live the Liberian people. Victory belongs not to the exploiters but to those who dare to fight for justice.”
