Pres. Weah Hails Citizens, Residents in Xmas Message -For Resilience, Patience in Managing COVID-19 Challenges

Celebrating his third Christmas as leader of Africa’s oldest republic, President George Manneh Weah, in fulfillment of his annual Yuletide duty, has hailed the citizens and residents of Liberia for remaining resilient and patient in managing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic that has caused the deaths of thousands of people all over the world.

In a special Christmas Message released December 24, 2020, President Weah acknowledged the global challenges that occasioned the Coronavirus pandemic, of which Liberians and foreign residents are of no exception, but thanked God that Liberia has been spared from the extreme of COVID-19.

“This year, the world is seeing a crisis of an unprecedented nature, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  It has sparked fear, frustration and anxiety all around, and has caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. But the citizens and residents of Liberia have shown great resilience and patience in managing these challenges.  

“We are thankful to God, that He has spared Liberia from the extremes of Covid-19.  Through His bountiful Grace and Mercy, we have been able to implement measures that have enabled us to contain the pandemic and minimize its negative effects on our people,” the Liberian leader noted.

President Weah furthered that, despite the progress the country has made in containing the Coronavirus pandemic through stringent health protocols and the mercy of God, Liberians should not let their guards down, as a deadly second wave and strain of COVID-19 rages havoc around the globe.

“I I admonish you not to let down your guard. Let us continue to remain vigilant and strictly abide by all of the measures and protocols intended to keep you and your families safe. As we head into the Christmas period, it is a time for reflection on what we have experienced this year, and most importantly, it is a time to look to the future with hope and confidence for a better 2021,” President Weah said, cautioning further for Christmas celebrants to be wary as they celebrate the joy of the season.

“Let us ensure we do so in a measured and careful manner. We are forever grateful that we made it this far in a turbulent year; so let us be hopeful of the great prospects that lie ahead,” he said, adding, “on behalf of my wife, First Lady Madam Clar Marie Weah, my entire family, and in my own name, I would like to wish each and every one of you a Joyous and Merry Christmas, and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. MY FELLOW CITIZENS IN LIBERIA AND ABROAD,

FOREIGN RESIDENTS WITHIN OUR BORDERS;

FELLOW CHRISTIANS;

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: 

 

As Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ during this festive season, let us all be mindful that Christmas is a time of joy and peace, and it is my hope and prayer that you will experience an abundance of both. 

 

This year, the world is seeing a crisis of an unprecedented nature, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  It has sparked fear, frustration and anxiety all around, and has caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people all over the world.  But the citizens and residents of Liberia have shown great resilience and patience in managing these challenges.
