The adage: “give a man/woman their flowers while they can appreciate the moment”, came to fruition on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, when the National Civil Society Watch of Liberia honored Finance and Development Planning Minister, Samuel D. Tweah Jr., as National Humanitarian.
In a release issued Wednesday June 24, 2020 in Monrovia, the Civil Society group hailed Minister Tweah Jr. as one of the few government ministers that has demonstrated genuine commitment to actualizing the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD) of the George Manneh Weah-led Government, by identifying with the underprivileged and downtrodden Liberians and non-Liberians on a daily basis.
The group says it joins other well-meaning Liberians, institutions and foreign residents alike to highlight the humanitarian assistance in grateful acknowledgement of Minister Tweah’s tireless effort in providing services to the people of Liberia, with unmatched humanitarian spirit, bold courage for capital contribution to individuals and institutions for capacity building and infrastructural development.
“It can be recalled recently how Minister Tweah Jr. solicitation with partners and donors like the EU, World Bank, and USAID brought financial aid to the Government of Liberia for rural electrification among others which clearly demonstrate the CDC-led Government commitment to actualizing the Pro-Poor Agenda which was promised by President Weah,” the Civil Society group stated.
“Conclusively, as a Civil Society Organization, which serves as backbone for monitoring activities of individuals in both private and government institutions, we are pleased to inform the public that Min. Samuel D. Tweah Jr. is highly contributing to the society which clearly justifies that the Ministry of Finance Development and Planning is working in the interest of the Liberian people by contributing to the CDC political agenda,” the group claimed.
Receiving the award, Finance Minister Samuel Tweah thanked the National Civil Society Watch of Liberia for the award and promised to work towards further promoting the CDC’s pro-poor agenda.
Minister Tweah told the organization that the CDC-led Government will continue to cater to the well-being of the Liberian people, as well as continue to identify with the underprivileged and downtrodden masses on a daily basis.
“We, as a government, are here for the people and we will not let them down,” Minister Tweah assured the organization.
