The organization, Men Against Rape and Domestic Violence (MARDV), has donated sanitary pads to the Monrovia Demonstration School System as the fight for menstrual sanitation among women and girls in Liberia intensifies.

The donation, according to the group Executive Director Mark Mengonfia, was part of the institution’s back to school anti-rape and domestic violence campaign, which coincided with the birthday of its late founder, Journalist Trogen Kiazolu.

The MARDV boss said the pads will enable school going female kids have safe menstrual, especially during regular school hours.

He also emphasized girls and women in general are bullied by their male counterparts which often causes serious trauma and make weak minded girls falls short and end up in dropping out of school.

Mr. Mengonfia called of men to desist from any form of violence against women and respect the rights of women and girls at all times.

He stressed that since men are often the perpetrators of sexual gender violence, it was important that male children in particular start to know that it is unhealthy for them to commit violence of any kind against women, girls – adding that women rights are human rights.

Mengonfia noted that when kids are prepared by giving them the right information, the possibility of evil men taking advantage of them will be difficult.

Also speaking, the wife of the late Trogen Kiazolu, Miama Pewee, recounted the dream her late husband had about protecting the needy.

She told the kids that her late husband saw the need to not only to take the airwaves to discuss rape and domestic violence but decided that it was important to have a pragmatic approach by going to the roots of the problem.

The donation was done over the weekend in Monrovia.
