‘Gov’t on Course with Road Connectivity’ -Says Minister Nyenpan

(LINA) – The Minister of Public Works Mobutu V. Nyenpan has disclosed that the Ministry is making significant progress in road connectivity intended to foster growth and development in the country.
Speaking on state-run LBS radio in Paynesville recently, Nyenpan stated that the government plans to pave about 500 kilometres of road throughout the length and breadth of the country within a period of six years.
He added that the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) is making sure that Liberians feel the impact of the infrastructure development across the country which, according to him, is at the fulcrum of the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD).
“You should know that every development project done out there came as the result of the hard work of this government in the face of the scarcity of funds,” said Nyenpan.
“Nothing happens in the vacuum, nothing happens in isolation. If this government succeeds in going out to talk to partners, lending institutions, to convince them to be able to provide assistance then it is for the benefit of the people,” Nyenpan added.
The MPW boss further indicated that the government of Liberia has made significant contributions in every development project that is going on nationwide, most especially in the road sector.
Nyenpan revealed that there is no project with regard to road connectivity that is exclusively funded by external partners without funding coming from the government of Liberia.
He asserted that roads planned to be completed in one year period, are about to be finished, pointing out that the major road corridors in the country will take about 2-3 years.
“I am confident that by the time we hold this conversation again, at the end of about 2-3 years the city (of Monrovia) will be totally different”. Nyenpan assured.
