Dillon Mania Sweeps Montserrado -“Let’s Go Beat CDC, Weah” – He Calls on Supporters

Even before Senator Abraham Darius Dillon had closed his Montserrado campaign In Monrovia, there were concerns in some quarters that the swapping of Dillon’s campaign closure date from Saturday, December 5 to Sunday the 6^th, to give allowance for the CDC to close their campaign on Saturday, would have negatively impacted turnout because, Liberians being majority Christians, would have prioritized their worship service or attended to family matters after service.

But the shocking opposite was that supporters and sympathizers of Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon, the man that has come to be dubbed “The Light”, completely overtook Monrovia on Sunday, sending a strong signal that the battle for Montserrado County still favors Dillon, if the politics of crowd is anything to go by.

Prior to Sunday, CPP and Liberty Party stalwarts and supporters had already started trooping to the Unity Party headquarters with their own t-shirts to have them branded with the campaign logo.

And then on Sunday, Monrovia went completely haywire as the multitude flowed through the streets like a roaring tsunami wave, meandering from all parts of the city towards the Liberty Party headquarters in Sinkor to close the Darius Dillon campaign.

According to one of our reporters who marched with the multitude from Gardnersville to the Unity Party headquarters in Congo Town, citizens were chanting, “the light must shine in Montserrado and across Liberia” while Senator Dillon marched with the multitude, weeping openly with tears of joy.

As their compatriots were milling from Gardnersville towards Congo Town, thousands of other CPP supporters were simultaneously locking down Monrovia, marching like mission ants from Freeport to the Unity Party Headquarters in Congo Town.

“It was a sea of people – arguably the biggest political rally ever in Liberia. Our friends must be smelling the coffee by now,” observed Mr. Robert M. Kpadeh, a noted Liberian peace and conflict expert.

“Today was a wonderful day, Dillon. We went out there to send a message to the Mohicans. That support, that zealotry, that uncompromising patriotism was meant to tell President Weah he lives in a bubble. He’s lied to! Please represent us well,” says policy wonk Boakai Jaleiba of the Center for Policy Action and Research (CePAR).

Expressing his adoration for the mammoth turnout, Senator Dillon could not hide tears of joy at the Unity Party headquarters.

“I have nothing to say to you tonight but thank you for walking with us from Liberty Party Headquarters all around to reach here. We want to say thank you. And I don’t have any message for you tonight because we have given all messages during our campaign in 2019; and that’s the same message we are pushing,” Dillon said.

He called on his supporters to turn out in their numbers to go and vote on Tuesday in order to maintain Montserrado county.

“Day after tomorrow will be election day. Vote, because all the things we did today, if you don’t vote in your numbers we will not win. Throughout the campaign we made a commitment on your behalf to CDC that we will win this election with over 300,000 votes. Thank you. We give God the glory,” Senator Dillon enthused, describing his supporters as the “hydro.

“We are the light and you are the hydro. Without you the light will not come on. So Tuesday, let’s go beat CDC and George Weah with over 300,000 votes, Dillon said, urging all of his supporters to vote “no” to all propositions in the National Referendum.

“On Tuesday, if you go to vote you must say no to all the propositions,” Senator Dillon cautioned his supporters, while advising them to wear their face mask during the voting process, noting that the CDC Government is making everything possible to suppress and stop the Liberian people from voting for him.

Nyonblee Dedicates Pre-Victory Campaign to Brumskine, Adolph -Says Campaign Not About Politics, But Legacy

The Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) Grand Bassa County senatorial candidate, incumbent Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, has dedicated her “pre-victory campaign” closure to Liberty Party vision bearer and founder, Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine and her late husband, former Montserrado County District #15 Representative Adolph Lawrence, for supporting her throughout her political career, while thanking the people of Bassa for standing by her.

Making brief remarks Sunday when she rounded off her campaign at the jam packed Buchanan Fair Grounds, after parading the City’s principal streets and winding through to the Liberia Party headquarter amidst a mammoth slogan-chanting crowd, Senator Lawrence said her pre-victory celebration is not about politics but rather, a fulfillment of the Charles Brumskine legacy.

According to our reporter who marched with the multitude that turned out to parade through the port city of Buchanan, Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence completely locked down the city from the get-go on Sunday, as she closed her campaign.

“Your action today proved to me that I have won the election but you are going for the confirmation on December 8,” she told the cheering multitude.

Senator Lawrence said her pre-victory celebration is not about politics but  rather, a fulfillment of the Charles Brumskine legacy.

Welcoming Senator Lawrence to the stage earlier, Atty. Charlyne Brumskine, daughter of Cllr. Charles Brumskine, said the pre-victory march in the streets of Buchanan is not about politics but a gathering of the family.

Charlyne said her late father had supported many politicians, but he singled out Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence over many others. She then used the occasion to call on the people of Grand Bassa County to see Senator Lawrence as their only alternative.

Proffering remarks at the occasion, CPP Chairman Alexander Cumming said his presence in Buchanan represents the entire CPP leadership, and that he had come to send a resounding message to the ruling Coalition, that CPP candidates will win these elections.

Cummings at the same time used the occasion to remind Liberians about the country’s ugly past, cautioning the CDC-led government against tampering with election results, as the CPP will accept nothing less than victory.

“Liberia is driving in the wrong path and we need people like Nyonblee Karnga and Darius Dillon to keep up the light at the senate,” Chairman Cummings said.

Also making remarks, Grand Bassa County Senator Jonathan Kaipay said Senator Kangar-Lawrence is standing on the shoulder of the late Cllr. Charles Brumskine and Adolph Lawrence, saying, “the transformation that Liberia deserves will begin December 8”, with the reelection of Senator Lawrence.

Other dignitaries who graced the occasion included former Grand Bassa County District #4 Representative Byron Browne as well as former Gender Minister Duncan Cassell.
