MONROVIA – From Ruin to Renewal: After 22 years of its founding, the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) is reclaiming its footing with a groundbreaking ceremony for a self-owned new $1.6 million national headquarters. This milestone seemingly marks a triumphant rebound from the party’s darkest hours – the 2003 electoral setback and the demolition of its iconic headquarters. As the CDC embarks on this new chapter, officials contend that its ambitious plans for expansion and a diverse funding base signal a renewed commitment to growth, unity, and progress. The Analyst reports.
CDC to Break Ground for US$1.6M Headquarters. The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has announced October 18, 2025, as the date for the groundbreaking ceremony of its new national headquarters, valued at approximately US$1.6 million.
The CDC is set to break ground on its new headquarters on October 18, 2025, in Congo Town, Monrovia, marking a significant step towards modernization and decentralization. The new headquarters, valued at US$1.6 million, is expected to be completed within six months and will serve as the administrative and strategic hub for party activities nationwide.
According to Cllr. J Fonati Koffa, Chairman of the CDC Headquarters Construction Committee, the project represents a symbol of growth and renewed strength for the party.
Despite the new site being relatively smaller than the party’s previous headquarters, Koffa emphasized that this is just the beginning of a broader plan to construct party headquarters in every county.
The party has already acquired land in Barclayville, Grand Kru County, and several other parts of Liberia as part of its long-term expansion plan.
The groundbreaking ceremony is expected to draw senior party executives, lawmakers, county chairpersons, and supporters from across the country.
Notably, the funding for the project comes from a diverse group of supporters, including 52% from CDC members, 18% from the ruling Unity Party, 10% from other opposition parties, 10% from independents, and 10% from anonymous donors. This display of unity and support underscores the party’s commitment to growth and progress.
The new headquarters is expected to signal a ‘new era of unity and progress; for Liberia’s largest political institution, which recently lost its former headquarters due to a court-ordered demolition.
