Liberty Party @ 20 -Stalwarts Plan Gathering to Reflect on Tortuous Journey

MONROVIA – Following years of constructive engagement with Liberia’s democratization efforts, the Liberty Party will turn 20 years on May 19, 2025.

As the Party observes this milestone moment of its political life, the National Leadership of the Party headed by its Political Leader, Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, says she deeply appreciate the visionary leadership provided by its founding father, Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine, and other compatriots for providing a firm democratic foundation that continues to propel the institution to a noble height.

The Party notes that the sacrifices, resilience, tenacity of purpose and visionary leadership of the forebears had instilled in the partisans deep-rooted commitment to a compassionate political philosophy that seeks to create opportunities for all Liberians to develop to their fullest potential.

Since its formation, the Party has remained constructively engaged with Liberia’s democratic evolution, making indelible marks in the country’s democratic space which have contributed in strengthening multiparty democracy in Liberia.

The Party has consistently advocated for transparent governance, anti-corruption initiatives, rule of law, and policies that uplift ordinary Liberians.

On the observance of this memorable epoch under the theme “Liberty Party: 20 Years of Democratic Legacy to Cherish,” the Party renews its commitment and dedication to the Liberian People’s lingering quest for a truly reformed and transformed country in which the children of Liberia will live to realize their full potentials.

“To this end, we wish to assure all democratic forces of our desire to remain engaged with the fashioning of a democratic culture that places premium on protection of the basic rights of all citizens and residents alike,” said the anniversary committee. “We proceed with the conviction that Liberia’s golden days are still on the horizon, and will materialize through the convergence of men and women that possess a national philosophy other than a narrow individual inclination.

Activities of the 20th Anniversary, according to the Party’s Anniversary Committee, include public engagements with key constituents, including youth, launch of the Nyonblee Kangar Lawrence Youth Dialogue, making tributes to founders and pioneering stakeholders, and unveiling and dedicating fallen founding standard bearer Brumskine’s portrait.

Other activities include ‘Birth Month Contest’, three days of membership registration, amongst other events.

As the Party celebrates two decades of political engagement, it says its commitment to fostering national unity, upholding the rule of law and advocating for policies that improve the lives of all Liberians remains unbending.

“On this historic occasion, we call on all Liberians to come and celebrate with us as we reflect on our journey through time, recognizing the need for the citizenry to embrace national cohesion and good neighborliness in order to build a stable and prosperous society,” the party said in the statement.
