MONROVIA – Alexander Benedict Cummings has got another pat on the back for being a winner of the prestigious international award. The latest comes from the CDC-Council of Patriots (CDC-CoP), which has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Alexander B. Cummings on receiving the distinguished Thomas W. Cole Jr. Presidential Award from Clark Atlanta University.
The group said Mr. Cummings’ recognition is well-deserved, reflecting his remarkable contributions to business, philanthropy, and leadership, both in Liberia and on the global stage.
As a proud alumnus and former chair of the CAU Board, this honor cements his standing as a transformative figure committed to positive change.
“While we celebrate this achievement, we also wish to remind Mr. Cummings that Liberia needs his active involvement now more than ever. Waiting for 2028 to start purporting as a people’s voice is dangerous,” the group said. “The people’s suffering isn’t waiting for them. Engage and stand with them now. The current socio-political and economic deprivations being instituted by the oppressive and failed Boakai-Koung administration across the country demand the engagement of all patriotic opposition political leaders who are committed to democratic progress and the welfare of the Liberian people.”
The CDC-CoP reminds Mr. Cummings that the Alternative National Congress (ANC)’s performance at the polls in 2023 should not be seen as a rejection. Mr. Boakai was a necessary political accident, allowed to teach the citizens to value result-oriented leaders like you when making political decisions. Boakai’s enormous failures have proven to the people why the ANC is an alternative; therefore, the alternative cannot abandon them.
The CDC-CoP states: “In this regard, we advise Mr. Cummings that it is politically detrimental to remain passive or to wait until 2029 before fully engaging with Liberians on the ground. The struggle for redemption is urgent and continuous. Liberia’s challenges cannot wait for electoral cycles—they require steadfast commitment, visible leadership, and grassroots engagement today.”
They encouraged Mr. Cummings to translate the spirit of this international recognition into direct action at home. Liberia’s democracy and its people stand to benefit from his presence and contributions in these critical times. The opposition community needs your visible involvement now more than ever.
