Since August 7, 2020 when news broke that Liberia’s Vice President had fallen ill after contracting Coronavirus, there has been mounting concerns from the public regarding her wellbeing, as well as speculations in certain quarters that Madam Jewel Howard Taylor might extend her stay in Ghana due to the precarious security situation in the country.
Apparently in an attempt to quash the rumors of her return, and to allay fears about her health, Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor has consented to speak to her compatriot Liberians for the first time since she took ill and was flown to Ghana for urgent medical attention.
According to a dispatch from the Office of Vice President Howard-Taylor, she will speak today Thursday, October 15, 2020 on the State Radio’s ELBC 99.9 FM, in a frank chitchat that will be relayed around the country by other radio stations including Radio Gbarnga in Bong County. The “Supper Morning Show” crew of ELBC will conduct the interview beginning at 7:45 Am.
Recently, VP Taylor took to social media from her medical hiatus in Ghana to express her thanks and appreciation for the avalanche of prayers issued from her fellow compatriots when she fell sick.
Reciprocating the kind gesture of her fellow Liberians, the Office of Vice President Howard-Taylor posted a message quoting Madam Taylor as saying: “Each day the Almighty God grants us a glimpse of his wondrous works towards us. As we walk life’s corridors our eyes are open but normally, we don’t see. Today, it is a privilege and honor to give thanks and praise to the Almighty God for His mercy and grace for another chance at life.”
Vice President Howard-Taylor further showered praises to Yahweh first and to the body of Christ and all other believers for raising their voices on her behalf when she could not. “I am ever grateful,” she said.
“I must also appreciate the Aspen Hospital Staff and Dr. Richards for stabilizing my condition in order to be able to travel. I am grateful that Liberia has its own specialists who are more than able. God bless you all. It is therefore only befitting, on behalf of the members of my families, my loved ones, the members of my ethnic groupings , all those who love and care for me – and in my own name to take this time to say a very special thank you to His Excellency President Weah, the Office of the Vice President, the Government of Liberia, Dr. Richards, the doctors and staff of Aspen Hospital, my office staffers, well-wishers and friends. I also extend a very special thank you to Liberian people and members of the Media who wished me well from across the Diaspora and the world. I remain grateful and prayerful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Madam Taylor stated effusively in her social media post recently.
Before leaving for Ghana, Vice President Taylor was admitted at Aspen Medical, a private health facility in Sinkor, where she was being treated for respiratory complications, according to a press release emanating from her office.
“Having favorably responded to treatment and the state of her health stabilized, it was advised that the Vice President seeks further medical attention at a more advanced facility with specialty in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory ailments,” the release had stated.
