The Essence of Gentlemanly Politics: Capturing CPP Alex Cumming’s Visit to a Fallen Stateswoman

The passing of Montserrado County District # 9 lawmaker, Mrs. Munah Pelham-Youngblood, on December 8, 2020 has left the nation in shock and awe, with many still paying tributes and eulogizing memories of the CDC stalwart who not left an indelible mark on the 53rd and 54th Legislatures, but as well served as a major pillar of support for women rights in Liberia. Among those who recently visited family of the fallen legislator was the political leader of the Alternative National Congress and current Chairman of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), Mr. Alexander B. Cummings.

Narrating outcome of his visit at the residence of the late Mrs. Munah Pelham Youngblood, where he interacted with her mother, family members, friends and visitors from the governing ruling Congress for Democratic Change, as well as those from the opposition camp, Mr. Cummings said: “With a heavy heart, I led some Executives of the CPP today to sympathize with the mother and family of fallen Representative, Hon. Munah Pelham Youngblood.”

According to Mr. Cummings, the late youthful and vibrant Representative was one whose politics cut across party lines.

“Our reflections with her mother proved that she was a politician who separated her politics from her friendships and relationships with people. She has certainly left a legacy within our political landscape. The CPP once again extends sympathy to her family, colleagues in the Legislature, her District, and her party. May her soul Rest In Peace,” Mr. Cummings said.
