Pres. Weah Mourns Fallen Defense Official

The Government has announced the death of Deputy Minister of Defense for Operations, Mr. Ernest Vafee, a statement of condolence issued by President George Manneh Weah has said.

The statement said the shocking news struck the state early Saturday, January 19, 2019, saying that the government is deeply saddened and devastated by this tragic occurrence.

President Weah on behalf of the government extended heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolences to the bereaved family as they go through this time of grief.

“In view of this sad occurrence, we hereby join the families of Minister Vafee and the Ministry of Defense in mourning the passing of a true professional,” President Weah lamented.

He said Minister Vafee was a great patriot with an impeccable record of service to the nation, and was an outstanding public servant whose love for Country was unquestionable. His passion to serve and penchant for excellence was unprecedented,” the president eulogized the fallen deputy defense minister.

The death of this noble son, President Weah indicated, has left an indelible mark in our hearts; and he will forever be remembered for the tenacity and professionalism he exhibited during his service to the country. “We cannot overemphasize how stricken we are by this calamity and the pains we are enduring from the loss of this profound public servant,” he added.

The chief executive furthered, “Our hearts and prayers are with his family, and may Heaven heal their wounds,” saying “On behalf of the Government and in my own name, I wish Minister Vafee a peaceful rest and may light perpetually shine on him,” he concluded.
