NEC Probes Telia’s Complaints -As Opposition Leads CDC in District #15 Results

The National Elections Commission says it is investigating complaints of elections irregularities that came from candidates of the Montserrado County District# 15 in the just ended July 29, 2019 combined Montserrado County Senatorial and District # 15 By-elections.

Speaking over the weekend at a News Conference held at the NEC Headquarters, the Chairman of the National Elections Commission said the commission has quarantine ballots papers following complaints filed to NEC by Ms. Telia Urey who is a candidate vying for the position for the seat of Montserrado County District # 15.

He said NEC, through its magistrate, is already investigating those complaints of election irregularities by candidate Urey, and noted that after the conclusion of the investigation, the commission will make known the findings to the media and the Liberian People.

The vote tallying results for Montserrado County District # 15 were put on quarantine by the National Elections Commission based upon the complaints of vote irregularities filed to NEC by Ms. Telia Urey, a strong contestant for the District # 15 of the National Legislature.

Already, preliminary results announced by the Chairman of the National Elections Commission, Jerome G. Korkoyah, has put the collaborating Opposition Candidate Telia Urey in the lead with 13,351 votes or 42.68% ahead of Abu B. Kamara of the CDC who has won 5,417 votes constituting 41.48%.

So far the NEC Chairman did not confirmed to the Liberian Media as to when will the investigation be completed, neither did he said when would the winner for the Montserrado County District# 15 By-elections will be announced.
