How Dillon Plotted Brumskine’s Fall -Leaked Audio Reveals

MONROVIA: Contrary to the belief that the late Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine, former founder and standard bearer of the Liberty Party had a team of committed and loyal supporters, a leak audio which is trending on the social media, if authenticated, proves that Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon showed disrespect and had one time or the other plotted the forceful removal of Cllr Brumskine from his position as Political Leader of the party.

In the audio, Senator Dillon was heard saying that no one could stop him from going to the party’s national headquarters on the orders of Cllr Brumskine whom he referred to as a “former Political Leader because we have not had any convention to elect a new political leader”.

According to the audio, Senator Dillon expressed his disdain against Cllr Brumskine in such a way to suggest that he (Brumskine) had come to the end of his political relevance in the country .“He is not the political leader of the party, and the Liberty Party has not had any convention to elect a new political leader. And even if we wanted to do it will not be Brumskine.” Dillon said in the Audio.

Although Senator Dillon did not call any name in the leaked audio, which was noted to have been before the death of Cllr. Charles Brumskine, but mentioning the “Political leader of the Liberty Party” pointed to the fact that he was referring to the late Cllr. Brumskine.

The alleged wordings on the tape apparently suggested that Cllr. Brumskine and Senator Dillon had an intra-party feud which might have caused Senator Dillon to have made that statement in the audio.

“He will not see that party ticket again,” Senator Dillon was heard in the audio, noting, “it is not force” [to vote him on the party’s ticket, characterizing Cllr. Brumskine as “That guy is arrogant and selfish,” and vowed, “we will deal with him.”

Although it is not known whether or not Cllr. Brumskine and Senator Dillion mended fences, one thing that was known is that the founding father of the party conferred upon Senator Nyonblee Kangar Lawrence the mantle of authority as Political leader replacing him  before his death.

Accordingly and after the death of Cllr. Charles Brumskine, a Convention that was called in Gbarnga by Senator Lawrence elected Musa Hassan Bility as Chairman for the party replacing Lofa County Senator Steve Zargo, an aftermath of the election that has the party split with Musa Bility and others taking one faction of the Party while Senator Lawrence and Senator Dillon taking another faction.

The political standoff in the party has led the party to be divided with Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence of Grand Bassa and Senator Darius Dillon of Montserrado slanting their support to the presidential bid of the Standard Bearer of the Unity Party Joseph Nyuma Boakai, while Bility on one hand is supporting the presidential desire of the Standard-Bearer of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) Alexander Cummings.

Within the spirit of the infighting, Mr. Bility and his group of followers suspended Senators Lawrence, Dillon and those leaning on the side of the Unity Party, but Senator Lawrence – using the authority conferred upon him by the founding father of the Liberty Party resisted the suspension, thereby continuously clinching to the Political Leadership of the Party with the backing of Darrius Dillon.

A political pundit who spoke to The Analyst last night to authenticate the audio said beyond establishing the authenticity of recording, Dillon had in the past done some of the worst things that could ever break down the late Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine.

“In 2011, when Brumskine really needed the support of all his loyalists during the presidential election, Dillon decamped to UP under the then presidency of Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and vehemently campaigned against Brumskine, one of the reasons  Brumskine  lost in 2011.
