MONROVIA – As the dust is gradually settling, emotions quieting following the burial of Senator Prince Y. Johnson, the Superintendent of Nimba County is expressing gratefulness to Liberians and friends of Liberia for the comforting contributions provided during the bereavement of the Nimba family.
In a special statement of appreciation issued yesterday, Superintendent Kou Meapeh Gono said: “On behalf of the people of Nimba County, I wish to extend our deepest gratitude to all Liberians, especially the resilient citizens of Nimba, for the overwhelming support and solidarity shown during the funeral activities of our fallen hero, leader, and godfather of Nimba County, Senator Prince Yormie Johnson.”
The grateful Nimba superintendent said the massive turnout at every venue, from the Capitol Building to Paynesville, Sokopa, Ganta, Sanniquellie, Karnplay Bahn, Saclepea, and back to Ganta, sent a powerful message of unity and collective resolve.
He said it was a clear reflection of the deep love, respect, and reverence we held for Senator Johnson, his life, and his legacy.
“The crowds that gathered in such great numbers were a testament to how united Nimbaians are, especially in this difficult time of loss,” he said further in the statement.
“As Nimbaians, we remain resilient,” he said. “We will rise from this tragedy, pick up the broken pieces, and channel the fighting spirit of our departed leader to build a stronger and more unified Nimba. We will learn from his dedication and work toward a more stronger and prosperous future for our county.”
She expressed Nimba’s heartfelt thanks to the Government of Liberia, led by His Excellency President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, for their financial and moral support during this difficult moment in the county’s history.
“We are deeply appreciative of the role played by our own son, the Honorable Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, who took the lead in ensuring a dignified state funeral for our late hero,” he further said.
“Our gratitude extends to the Nimba Legislative Caucus, former government officials from Nimba, members of the National Legislature, cabinet ministers, traditional chiefs, elders of Nimba, citizens in the Diaspora, Nimba musicians, the media, and all the committee heads and members, especially Madam Judee Endee, for their invaluable contributions.
“Once again, we thank you all for standing with us during this challenging time. May God continue to bless and unite us all as we honor the legacy of Senator Prince Yormie Johnson.”
