The Corporative Development Agency (CDA) says cooperative is one of the sectors that creates more Jobs for citizens in every economy, pointing out that that if Liberia has to feed herself, the Agriculture sector should be giving serious attention.  Madam Regina Sokan-Teah further said government should allot more funding to the agriculture sector for the country to be able to feed itself and for the people to go back to the soil.

The CDA boss assured the country that she is working assiduously to ensure that Liberia feeds herself by 2020 so that all those who used to take rice from Monrovia to the rural area by next year will be able to stop and grow their own food.

Madam Sokan-Teah made the statement when staffers of the Agency honored her on Wednesday September 25, 2019, at the Headquarter of the Agency in Congo Town. The CDA workers presented to their boss a certificate of honor for her hard work.

Receiving the Certificate, Madam Sokan- Teah thanked the employees for the honor, and called on all employees to put the interest of the Agency first in taking cooperative activities to the people of Liberia.

“We all have to encourage one another to move this Agency forward; let me encourage you to tighten your belts and strive to help CDA to go across the country,” she told the employees.

The former Montserrado County representative at the National Legislature indicated, “Let come together for the betterment of the CDA and the country as a whole; this is the only way developments will come into the country.”

She used the occasion to urge all Liberians, especially government employees, to come together for a better Liberia for everyone.”

Madam Sokan- Teah said Liberia will only grow in development if only Liberians can be united and put away all their political differences to work together as one people. “We all can’t come from the same political background, but as government employees, we need to come together and work in the interest of the Liberian people.”

Frowning on tearing one another apart, Madam Sokan-Teah also called on the media to stop too many negative stories about the government, saying that such will project the bad image of the government and the country to the outside world. She stressed how she feels so bad whenever she sees negative stories on both the print and electronic media about Liberia.

She said both the media and government need each other; media provides check and balance on the regime as watchdog while government creates an atmosphere for a free market system and that of the free press for free expression or free speech.

She however said: “Free speech or expression goes with responsibility, and does not mean all is free, as one is bound to be held accountable if infringed on the rights and liberty of another.

She noted that free speech or freedom of the press is been taking advantage of, used it to abuse national leaders and individuals around the country from morning to evening whenever one listens to the radio.

Presenting the certificate earlier, presenting the Certificate of Honor to Madam Sokan-Teah, CDA’s acting Deputy Registrar General, Mr. Harris Winnie, said Madam Regina Sokan-Teah has been working tremendously at the CDA since her appointment for which they are very impressed.

The workers,  counting on Madam Sokan- Teah’s good working relations and her coexistence with the Staffs at all levels of the of CDA , they are ready at any time to work with the CDA Boss for the progress and success of the entity.

The occasion was attended by departmental heads and staff members.
