Cabinet Members Visit Their ‘Jewel’ – GoL Solidifies Camaraderie at 2019’s Portal

The first year of the George Manneh Weah administration is ending today, giving way to another working year that Liberians and international observers look forward to for the consolidation of gains made so far. As if the frontline ‘soldiers’ of the Weah regime—members of the Cabinet of Government, did not want any dint of suspicion, real or perceived, remain over relations and esprit de corps within the Executive Branch, they, at the head of their doyen, Foreign Affairs Minister Finley, and Cabinet Director Jordon Sulunteh, made a couple of rounds aimed at re-energizing one another and hosting appreciation visits with the Chief Executive, Dr. George Weah and his foremost Deputy—the “Jewel” of the regime—Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor. There at the home of VP Taylor, the host gave them the appropriate message of the season: a stimulating rallying call peace, valor and hope. The Analyst reports.

Members of the Cabinet, led by Foreign Minister Gbehzongar M Findley, on Friday, December 28, 2018, paid a courtesy visit with Vice President Chief Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor at her Sophie Community Residence in Monrovia.

The Dean of the Cabinet, Minister Findley who spoke on behalf of his cabinet colleagues, expressed thanks and appreciation to VP Howard-Taylor for the nearly one year service in government and assured their full corporation to the effective implementation of the Pro-poor Agenda for the Government’s Prosperity and Development.

The Foreign Minister, who presented a gift on behalf of his colleagues, maintained that the courtesy visit was part of a normal routine by the Cabinet to pay their respect to the President and the Vice President during the festive season.

In response, VP Howard-Taylor thanked the Cabinet for the visit while reaffirming her fullest support to the ideals of His Excellency President Dr. George M. Weah.

She told the Cabinet that she remains fully prepared and open to any suggestion from members of the Cabinet for the forward match of the Pro-Poor Agenda.

She emphasized the need for a coordinated working relationship in government.

“I remain available as catalytic partner, to every sector of Government, especially the ministries of Gender, Children and Social Protection and Health, with which I’m already working,” VP Howard-Taylor remarked in the courtesy meeting with the Cabinet members.

According to the Liberian Vice President, though members of Cabinet have been performing their duties, more needs to done as the Government sails into the second year, 2019, in its first six year-term.

While acknowledging the rugged path the Government has treaded in the past year, the Vice President took time to single out the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Mr. Nathaniel Mcgill, whom she said, has done remarkable well, under the circumstances, in his management of the affairs of the Presidency, noting however that much will be achieved in the coming year if coordination, harmony, and love for country serve as our guide.
