‘BE AGENTS OF CHANGE’ -Education Minister Jallah Excites CU’s 707 Graduates

MONROVIA – Education, universally, inspires and nurtures a national sense for progress, for transformation, for innovation, and ultimately for change. But there are times when citizens of countries pervert education, and use it to foment and instigate chaos, corruption and division that lead to backwardness and deprivation, as Liberia have seen in history, including the period of the civil war. Thus, as one of the premier tertiary institutions in the country ordains 707 graduates, the Chief Education Administer of the county, the Minister of Education, has asked them in her keynote address to use their new academic status, their knowledge and skills to bring positive change to Liberia. THE ANALYST reports.

Liberia’s Minister of Education, Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah, served as the keynote speaker at Cuttington University’s 63rd Commencement Convocation, where she delivered a powerful, motivational, and visionary address, inspiring 707 graduates to lead with excellence, integrity, and innovation.

Addressing the graduates, faculty, families, and dignitaries gathered at the university’s main campus in Suakoko, Dr. Jallah emphasized the vital role of education in national transformation. She challenged the graduates to become agents of positive change, entrepreneurial thinkers, and committed public servants.

“Let excellence, integrity, and service be your guiding principles,” Minister Jallah urged. “Be bold in action, generous in spirit, and collaborative in purpose. Use your education as a force for good—to solve problems, uplift your communities, and contribute to Liberia’s sustainable development.”

The convocation ceremony marked a historic academic achievement for the university, as it conferred degrees upon students from its three campuses: Suakoko, Monrovia, and Kakata. The Suakoko campus produced the largest cohort, with 254 graduates earning degrees across disciplines including Agriculture and Sustainable Development (15), Business and Public Administration (42), and Health Sciences (93).

Dr. Romelle A. Horton, President of Cuttington University, congratulated the Class of 2025 and praised their perseverance and academic accomplishments. She reaffirmed the university’s continued commitment to developing ethical and competent leaders who will meaningfully contribute to Liberia’s advancement.

“You are well-prepared to lead, serve, and drive meaningful progress,” Dr. Horton stated. “Let the knowledge you’ve gained serve as a catalyst for building a stronger, more resilient nation.”
