MDMC Rejects AREPT Bribery Claims -Over Holiday Cards, Calls Allegation ‘Absurd’

MONROVIA – A seemingly minor holiday tradition—sending greeting cards—has escalated into a public integrity dispute between a private company and a public integrity institution. MDMC is gone on a pushback not only as a reputational defense but also a warning about how anti-corruption institutions communicate allegations and how quickly “bribery” framing can harden into public judgment before evidence is tested. The Analyst reports.

MDMC Express, Inc. has issued a public rebuttal rejecting what it calls an “unfounded claim” by the Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Taskforce (AREPT), which the company says insinuated that MDMC attempted to bribe the institution by presenting a Christmas greetings card along with a 2025 company profile.

In a press release issued in Monrovia on Monday, January 12, 2026, MDMC said the gesture was a standard exchange of goodwill during the festive season and was not intended to influence any official action.

The company said it values transparency and integrity and described the selection of AREPT as random from its database, stressing that the purpose was to share seasonal greetings and highlight the company’s work. MDMC added that similar cards were distributed to more than 200 institutions and individuals, and AREPT was among the recipients.

MDMC concluded by stating it respects AREPT’s work but views the characterization of the greeting as an attempt at bribery as unreasonable and damaging, particularly coming from a public integrity institution. The statement was signed by the company’s management.
