Montserrado County Senator Saah H. Joseph discloses the coming into the country on the 31st of July this year, administrator that 30 medical doctors who are expected to perform free medical services at the Samay Clinic in Bong County Electoral District #2; donates 300,000 Liberian dollars to the clinic for its upkeep; Writes D. The Samay Clinic is located in Bong Electoral District #2 represented by Deputy House Speaker Prince K. Moye, which caters to more than 8,000 residents of Semay and other nearby towns and villages; a clinic Senator Joseph visited recently when he made the disclosure of the foreign medical doctors.
The doctors, he said, will be expected to perform surgeries and other tests including eye testing amongst others.
The Montserrado County lawmaker also stated that the $300,000 Liberian dollars provided to the clinic is his own way of paying back to Mr. Better and the Liberian people who voted George Manneh Weah as president of the Republic of Liberia which created him the opportunity to serve as Senator for Montserrado
His visit to the district was at the invitation of the chief of office staff in the offices of the Deputy speaker, Mr.Joshua Better, Senator Joseph.
Speaking on health matters, Senator Joseph underscored the need for the placement of professional nurses and Traditional midwives on government payroll, referring to it as “a matter of paramount concern in the 2019 Health Policy Act”, pointing out that he remains committed in pushing the case of healthcare workers at the National Legislature.
Having toured the Samay Clinic facilities and listened to the many cries of nurses, Senator Joseph said traditional midwives and residents of the district, there is a need to give some assistance to the communities through the healthcare sector, especially the Samay Clinic, with funding and other essential materials for the smooth operation of the center.
The Senator said the donation was meant for the upkeep the facility. He indicated the need for a proactive healthcare delivery system, which he said, is a matter of must under the CDC-led government
The senator said during the 2018 senatorial by-election in Montserrado County, Mr. Better stood with him spending thousands of dollars and sacrificing his lives to get him elected.
Mr. Joseph further assured the Samay Clinic administrator that 30 medical doctors expected in the country on the 31st of July, who he said will be taken to the clinic to conduct testing or surgery for eyes, amongst others area. He also divulged that they will still stay in the county for at least weeks or month to perform medical services without no cost to the beneficiaries of the services.
The lawmaker’s recent cash donation to the clinic along with his advocacy for traditional midwives to be placed on payroll has been greeted with lot of commendations.
The citizens of the County including people of Electoral District #2, have expressed happiness and at the same time described the Montserrado Lawmaker as “Senator without border”.
Elijah Sam Andrew, a resident of Samay wants Hon. Joseph push their interest to the Ministry of Health to ensure that staffers at the clinic are placed on payroll if the district health system must meet its standard.
Meanwhile, the 300,000 Liberian Dollars contributed by the Montserrado County Senator has been directed to the expansion of the Maternal waiting home.
According to Samay Clinic Officer in Charge, Reverend Obadiah Kermue, the moneywill be used to fully construct additional two rooms which will ensure conduciveness for pregnant women and midwives.

Meanwhile, the nurses and traditional midwives at the Samay Clinic, along with residents of Bong County Electoral District #2 have commended Montserrado County Senator Saah H. Joseph for providing $300,000 Liberian dollars to the health center.
