MONROVIA : After going down by slight votes against his closest rival Ambassador Joseph Nyuma Boakai, President George Manneh Weah yesterday, Wednesday, October 18, 2023 returned to the top of the results table with the total vote count of 803,674 while Boakai scored 796,313 votes at the close of the release of the results announced by the Chairperson of the National Elections Commission(NEC), Madam Davidetta Brown Lassanah from 5886 of the 5890 polling places nationwide and only a paltry 4 polling places remaining.
The results again confirmed that the two top contenders could not secure the mandatory 51% of the total votes to pull a straight win in the first round as both of them got 43.84% and 43.44%,respectively, sealing the duel to go into a second round of the election to determine the final winner which is expected to be held on November 7, 2023.
According to Madam Brown Lassanah, the registered valid votes were 1,833,189 while the invalid votes were 114, 597 and the total votes cast were 1,947,786 votes.
