The Vice President of Liberia, Chief Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor has paid a courtesy call on outgoing Ghana Ambassador to Liberia, His Excellency Ernest Barte Asare Asiedu and applauded his outstanding service in strengthening the diplomatic ties between the two Nations.
Vice President Howard-Taylor paid the courtesy call on the Ghanaian envoy Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Ghanaian Embassy in Monrovia. During the visit, VP Howard-Taylor recounted the long standing diplomatic relations that subsisted between Ghana and Liberia which have survived for decades.
Madam Vice President recalled the historical role Ghana played in restoring peace to Liberia after prolong years of civil war, and expressed gratitude to the people of Ghana for their continuous hospitality to the Liberian people.
She applauded Ambassador Asiedu for his service in strengthening the existing diplomatic relations between Ghana and Liberia; while pointing out that Ambassador Asiedu remains a major friend of Liberia.
The Vice President intimated that the Outgoing Ambassador is a Statesman whose service to his country is unquestionable and wish him well in his next assignment.
In his response, Ambassador Asiedu commended the Government and people of Liberia for the level of dedication in the transformation of Liberia, and expressed optimism that Liberia’s development trajectory is irreversible.
The Ambassador affirms that he remains a good friend of the Liberian people, and that his service was indeed memorable and rewarding.
It can be recalled that Ambassador Asiedu was appointed and commissioned in 2017 by Ghanaian President Nana Akufo Addo. Since his assignment in Liberia, the outgoing Ambassador has demonstrated diplomatic acumen in strengthening the bond between the two West African Nations.
