UP, Others Extend Condolences -For Fallen PLP Standard Bearer

MONROVIA – In the aftermath of the death of the Standard Bearer of the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) on December 26, 2022 in Pennsylvania, United States of America, the opposition Unity Party has extended its condolences to the PLP family, the Cassell family and all friends and supporters of the late Dr. Daniel E. Cassell.

News of the sad passing of the statesman flooded social media in the early hours of December 26, 2022. To the disbelief of many supporters and well-wishers alike, it was later confirmed by family sources that he died as the result of a heart attack in Pennsylvania, the United States of America.

Before his demise, Dr. Cassell, after his brief introduction to Liberia’s political landscape, projected a shared vision with the Unity Party ideas of a Liberated Liberian society from the shackles of poverty.

He was often referred to as the “poverty doctor” by many of his supporters and admirers for his numerous interventions in the lives of ordinary Liberians.

“The UP has lost a friend and a great man of immense conviction in the struggle for a better leadership for Liberia.

“The UP extends its condolences to the PLP family, the Cassell family and all friends and supporters of the late Dr. Daniel E. Cassell.

“The Party reaffirms its commitment to partner and work with the PLP, a legacy of Dr. Cassell, in the struggle for the total liberation of the masses of the Liberian people,” stated the December 27, 2022 UP press release.

Meanwhile, condolence messages continue to pour in for the fallen PLP standard bearer.

Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr. in a social media post on December 27, 2022 also expressed his heartfelt sympathy to all Liberians; partisans of PLP, family and friends for his irreplaceable loss.

“It saddens my heart to wake up to the news of the passing of a fellow Statesman, Dr. Daniel E. Cassel, Standard Bearer of the PLP.  We would like to express our sympathy to all Liberians; Partisans of PLP, family and friends for this irreplaceable loss – indeed, life is full of uncertainties and unpredictability. May his soul and all faithful departed Rest In Peace,” Senator Snowe stated consolingly.
