“Support from Govt. Donors, implementing Partners Are yielding Results” – Says Health Minister Jallah

Health Minister Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah has said that, while it’s true that there are still challenges within the health sector, the continuous support from government, donors, and implementing partners are yielding positive results and the health sector is resilient and ready to respond to outbreak in country.

   She said project funds given by donors and partners are directed directly to whatever project that is to be implemented to benefit the masses as this government is masses driven.

She made the statement when she was honored yesterday by National Civil Society Network of as “Administrators of the Year”.

   The group recalled Dr. Jallah’s enormous contributions both in the private and a public sector of Liberia has been distinct and impactful in the lives of many Liberians.

She also wants all Liberians to support this government because government is by the people, for the people, and of the people.

   The National Civil Society Network of Liberia is an interest based organization which speaks on ills in society that have the proclivity to undermine the existence of the state and moral standing. This group proffers policy documents, recommendations and suggestions on the forward match of the state. 

    Dr. Jallah thanked the civil society organization for their oversight role in helping to checkmate government officials on proceedings that are counterproductive to the state and for proffering good solutions. She said the honor came as a complete surprise and receiving it on the eve of Christmas from a watchdog organization places her and the entire ministry under serious obligation to always deliver the best health care services to Liberians from all walks of life. 

    The rights group decision to recognize Dr. Jallah came as a result of what they called “selfless administrative leadership style within the health sector and the result and gains made in just a year at the ministry of health.” Reading the press statement, the group National Chairman Anthony Roberts, who also presented the honor to Dr. Jallah on the eve of Christmas in Monrovia, praised the selfless health Minister for her robust and industrious role exercised in just a year which had greatly transformed the health sector from a fragile condition to be resilient and ready to respond to any outbreak in the country.

   Roberts asserted that if Liberia has patriotic Government officials who have worked tremendously hard in the private sector and well-off financially like Dr. Jallah, their coming into government will not be to enrich themselves, and selfish-interest will not be their priority in government. Roberts added that the medical professional administrative skills of Dr. Jallah have added values, gains, and improvement to the health sector, and as such, all Liberians should not ignore the gains made in just a year under her stewardship.

   He also extended his institution’s profound gratitude and heartfelt thanks and appreciation to President George Manneh Weah for his brilliant decision in making the right choice of bringing such medical professional on board the health sector. He lauded the health ministry for supporting some medical doctors who are shortly expected to further their studies aboard in other to specialize in different areas of interest.
