Police Boss Makes Significant Gains in USA – LNP Chief Spokesman Discloses

The recent visit of the Inspector General of the Liberia National Police Colonel Patrick K. Sudue to New York has made significant gains in terms of bilateral or multilateral assistance from counterparts in America for the Liberia National Police.

  Speaking Tuesday at a news conference held at the Headquarters of the Liberia National Police, the Chief Spokesman of the Liberia National Police, H. Moses Carter, Sr. disclosed that the United Nations has pledged support in assisting the Liberian National Police by providing police experts for training and other resources for the development of the police in terms of partnership.

   Mr. Carter said that the United Nations and the Inspector General of the Liberia National Police have agreed at the recent meeting in New York at the Permanent Mission of Liberia to the UN in USA with the Deputy Police Advisor and Deputy Officer in Charge of United Nations Police (UNPOL), Shaowen Yang promised the LNP that the UN Police Officers will continue to provide the needed technical and other supports in addressing both short and long term challenges facing the Liberia National Police in terms of basic training.

   The Police Spokesman indicated that UNPOL Officer in Charge, Mr.Shaowen assured that UNPOL will provide the LNP with expertise when necessary, and it will work with the Liberia Government and partners to conduct outreach activities to source funding for skills development in specialized areas.

   Mr. Carter reiterated that gains were made by the Inspector General held discussion with UN High level panels where the Police boss was able to present Liberia’s case craving the UN support for more assistance to the Liberia National Police.
