MONROVIA – The Liberia National Police (LNP) is said to have begun an investigation of an incident wherein a bullet hit and pierced the home of one of Liberia’s public health gems, Dr. Dougbeh Christopher Nyan, on the night of June 28, 2024.
Dr. Nyan, who shared the rather scaring story with The Analyst, said when the bullet hit his home, he immediately communicated with the Inspecter General of the LNP, Gregory Coleman, to draw his attention and solicit police action.
He said on the night of the incident, he texted the Police Chief, not only introducing himself fully but also to “report a shooting incident in our community on AB Tolbert Road, around my residence, with a bullet entering my home.”
The Liberian professional in medicine, science and public health, apparently frightened by the incident, informed IG Coleman that his security and safety of family were of concern, and requested urgent attention of the police in the matter.
According to him, when he contacted the Police Inspector, who handed the case over to the Deputy Inspector General for Operations, Freeman, who “immediately assembled a balistic/firearms team that conducted an investigation at the residence.”
“The team returned on 29th June, and completed it’s fact-finding and evidence-gathering,” Dr. Nyarn told the Analyst.
“All top level officials, including Acting IG Mulbah called me to express concern about the incident, thanked me for my cooperation, and assured me of a thorough investigation,” he said further.
The Liberian medical professional exhibited pictures and a video of the bullet and debris or fragments found in his home in the aftermath of the reported shooting incident in his community.
