MONROVIA – Liberia’s legislative diplomacy reaches one of the world’s most storied academic stages this week. Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr. delivers a public lecture at the University of Oxford on Monday, July 13, 2026. His topic, regional democracy and the ECOWAS Parliament, lands at a moment of constitutional strain across West Africa. Coups, contested elections, and weakened institutions have tested the region’s democratic consensus in recent years. Snowe chairs the ECOWAS Parliament committee charged with political affairs, peace, and security. His Oxford appearance therefore carries a weight well beyond mere ceremony. It signals that Liberian voices are helping shape the continental conversation on governance rather than merely observing it from the sidelines. THE ANALYST reports.
