Security agencies step up Search for Missing NEC Official in Grand Gedeh County

The Liberia National Police and other security apparatus, in collaboration with the local authority in Grand Gedeh County have intensified search efforts aimed at finding the whereabouts of Alfred Dunner, Logistics Officer of the National Election Commission in Grand Gedeh County who was declared missing for over a week now under mysterious circumstances.

According to a press release issued by the Liberia National Police and signed by Moses Carter, LNP investigators gathered that on Monday, May 2, 2022, Alfred left his home to seek traditional treatment with a herbalist in a town called Janzon, Cavalla District, where he reportedly went missing.

The release said that LNP’s Grand Gedeh Detachment upon hearing of the missing incident constituted a team to work with local authorities in order to establish the whereabouts of the local NEC official. The release said that the Superintendent of Grand Gedeh,  Kai Farley along with his team of local officials have since cooperated with the LNP in aiding the search efforts.

“While our search operation continues, the public, family members and sympathizers of the alleged missing person are urged to remain calm and work with the LNP in sharing useful information about the whereabouts of the missing NEC staff”, the release concluded.

Meanwhile, tension has subsided in the area after members of the Armed Forces of Liberia were drafted there to forestall law and order when rival clans from the Niao and Konobo belts were engaged in bloody clashes, leaving some persons wounded from shots fired from single barrel guns and cutlasses freely used by some youths from opposing clans.
