Rep. Williams Dedicates USD10, 000 Market Annex -Complains Former Speaker Chambers’ Refusal to Meet Him

MONROVIA – To ensure that marketers of Pleebo Soduken District do not sell in the rain and the Sun, the successor of former Speaker Bhofal Chamber of Maryland County District #2, Representative Anthony F. Williams has dedicated an Annex of the Pleebo General Market over the weekend in the county.

Representative Williams told The Analyst In an exclusive interview in Maryland County on June yesterday, 20, that the market is one of his campaign promises to the people of Pleebo Soduken during the 2023 legislative and presidential elections.

The Maryland County Representative disclosed that the market was constructed by him, worth US$10,000 dollars, and underscored a need that the marketers have a good environment that would save them from the sun and the rain.

“During the campaign process in 2023, each time I passed around, I noticed that our people including old and the youth are often selling under the rain and sun thus making their goods to be damaging as a result of lack of proper market building to carry on their daily activities,” Rep William and pointed out that the Annex he constructed at the Pleebo General can take between 800 to 900 market tables.

The lawmaker named some of his deliverables his representation at the legislature achieved for the people of his district to include construction of Hand Pumps, donation of an Ambulance to the Pleebo Health Center and setting up of District Council to be responsible for  development projects’ implementation in the district.

“Since 2005 up to now, our people do not know what is considered as district council because the passed leaders of the county, mainly those of Maryland County District #2, lacked proper representation of the people…,” said, adding assuring that his leadership will have the citizen of the district involve in the rolling out of development initiatives.

He pointed out that since he took office less than four months ago as Representative of Maryland County #2, his development projects are unmatched as compared to some lawmakers who served the district for over eighteen (18) years.

Rep. Anthony F. Williams also disclosed that since his victory over former House Speaker Bohfal Chambers, both the past and the present representatives have neither met nor spoken with

Dr. Chambers.

According to him, he has made every efforts to meet with the former House Speaker Dr. Bohfal Chambers for the common good of the district and the people but his efforts have proven unsuccessful

Williams, a former student leader at the State run University of Liberia, now Maryland County #2 Representative, defeated former House Speaker Dr. Bohfal Chambers in the 2023 election thus bringing to an end Chambers’ 18 years in the Liberian Legislature years as Representative for the people of Maryland County.

“When he defeated me in 2017, I immediately called him and congratulated him; I also drove to Representative Chambers’ Capitol Building office and have some talks with him,” Rep. Williams said

The Maryland County #2 Representative is therefore calling on the former House Speaker and his supporters to come together and join him to move the district forward.
