PUL Condemns Attack On Cllr. Musu Scott, Others -Wants Speedy Investigation

MONROVIA – As more reactions continue to trail the attack on the residence of former Chief Justice of Liberia Cllr. Gloria Musu-Scott, the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), said it is deeply worried by the attack by alleged Armed Robbers and condemned the act which led to the death of Justice Scott niece and injuries to others and called for speedy investigation in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

In a press statement released by the media fraternity and signed by its Secretary General, Musa M.B. Konneh, PUL said bringing the killer to justice will instill confidence in Liberia security system especially, during these time of the General and Presidential Elections.

The statement quoted the PUL President, Charles B. Coffey as saying that the life of former Chief Justice Scott daughter was taken away and has left panic amongst family members, community dwellers and the country at large stating further that it is worrisome.

PUL further said, the freedom to free movement and rights to security including the right to freedom of expression should be enjoyed at all times, cautioning, the joint security to always use the methodology of preventing crimes than curing it.

“The Press Union extends her heartfelt sympathy to former Chief Justice and the bereaved family and urge those responsible sectors to take siege of the matter to have a rapid response.

“Meanwhile Mr. Coffey is further urging the justice ministry to increase security through various security institutions and ensure the security of Liberians.  He believes unscrupulous individuals in society may want to use the election period to create havoc”, the statement concluded.
