President George Manneh Weah through the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel F. McGill has made a personal cash donation of One Hundred Thousand United States Dollars (US$100,000.00) to victims of the Waterside fire disaster where several persons got wounded and homes and businesses were destroyed.

Presenting the donation on Friday August 27,2021 at the Monrovia City Hall , Minister McGill said  the Liberian Leader made a commitment that he will personally make a financial contribution aimed at  providing opportunity and easing the burden of those who got affected by the fire.

“I have come to fulfil on behalf of the President of the Republic of Liberia, George Manneh Weah who promised that he will contribute Hundred Thousand United States Dollars (US100,000)as his personal contribution to victims of the Waterside fire incident”, Mr. McGill said. He hoped that the beneficiaries will use the fund wisely and at the same time admonished businesses and individuals to begin to take some measures to prevent fire disaster.

Mayor Jefferson Tamba Koijee who received the fund which he subsequently turned over to the head of the victims, Mr. Mohammed Majah Barry, thanked Minister McGill for ably representing the President. He however said though the money did not commensurate with the level of disaster incurred, he urged the beneficiaries to seize the opportunity and make maximum use of the President’s gesture.

Mayor Koijee who had earlier toured the scene of the incident used the occasion to call on the Aminata & Sons, Inc. to step forward and identify with the victims and not to wait until the Government takes action against the entity. He called on the international community, philanthropists, humanitarian and civil society organizations among others to reach out to the victims.
