Pres. Weah Acknowledges Reports on L$16b, Maintains Vow to Flex Muscles on Culprits

President George M. Weah, who is currently on an official visit in the State of Israel, has swiftly reacted to reports released yesterday by the USAID-hired audit firm and a presidential investigative team.

The President said in dispatch from Israel that “received and reviewed the reports of Kroll, a firm of international repute which was hired by USAID, and the Presidential Investigation Team he set up to probe allegations that billions of newly-printed Liberian dollar banknotes were missing and/or unaccounted for.”

The dispatch quotes the President as expressing thanks and appreciation to the Government and People of the United States of America for positively responding to his call to assist with the inquest and for funding the scoping mission done by Kroll.

The President promised that the Government of Liberia would take all necessary actions as required based on the findings of both reports.

He also reiterated his Government’s commitment to transparency, good governance and the rule of law, and urged all citizens to remain calm as the process unfolds.
