Nat’l Muslim Organization to Honors Pres. Weah -For Being a Unifier, Reconciler of His People

The National Muslim Organizations, in collaboration with Women Development of Kpasan-kamala as well as the advisor to the President on Islamic Affairs, will on November 29, 2020 honor President George Manneh Weah for his farsightedness as a unifier, a reconciler and a man of great potential in promoting religious coexistence and tolenrance among the people of Liberia.

According to a Friday, November 13, 2020 press release from the President of the National Civil Society Union of Liberia (NACSUL), the decision of the National Muslim Organizations to honor President Weah is based on his milestone decision to have appointed for the first time an advisor on Islamic Affairs, and for the many support he has provided and continues to provide to the Muslim community.

“As part of manifestation of his desire to ensure peaceful co-existence and balanced decision making for the dominant Christian and Muslim communities, President Weah for the first time in the history of Liberia appointed the first advisor on Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Ousman Jalloh, a committed and dedicated Muslim who is also working to ensure that Muslims, Christians and other religious groups co-exist and live in harmony. In furtherance of his astute leadership role, this veteran Islamic cleric and the Muslim community will be honoring President George Weah on November 29, 2020,” the NACSUL release stated.

“As President of the National Civil Society Union of Liberia, let me commend the National Muslim Organizations in collaboration with Women Development of Kpasan-kamala as well as the advisor to the President on Islamic Affairs for the great and farsighted initiative to appreciate and shower the Liberian Leader for this milestone decision to have appointed for the first time an advisor on Islamic Affairs and the many support he has provided and continues to provide to the Muslim community. We have also been informed that renowned Muslim teacher in person of Sheikh Mohammed Awah, who is currently based in the United States of America to serve as special Guest Speaker of the heart touching occasion. We also want to challenge President George Weah to continue to provide such support to our Islamic brothers and sisters,” Kanneh enjoined.

The National Civil Society Union of Liberia therefore called upon all well-meaning Muslims in Monsterrado and other parts of the country to come out in their numbers to grace the occasion as it is strictly a non-political gathering.
