JNB Hails Liberians for Withstanding Hardship -Urges Voters to Change Weah Govt for a Better Liberia
MONROVIA – As the nation ushers in a New Year that is expected to bring good tidings for the citizenry by way of the 2023 presidential and general elections, the Standard Bearer of the former ruling Unity Party, Ambassador Joseph Nyuma Boakai, has hailed all Liberians for their resilience, courageous, and determined spirit during “adversities, corruption and careless attitude exhibited by the CDC Government over the past five years”.
In a special New Year message proffered to the nation, Ambassador Boakai saluted Liberians for braving the economic storms and challenges faced over the past five years, some of which made their lives unbearable and miserable to the extent that five years of the Weah-led government in power was like living in hell.
“The five years were characterized by disregard for human life, looting of the nation’s coffers and natural resources with no account or report to the people of Liberia that employed this government with a clear mandate which has not been fulfilled, and will not be fulfilled. Yet they ask for another chance to bring the country to its knees.
“The five years were characterized by gross violation of the constitution, abuse of human rights and gross disregard for accountability. Further, our citizens continue to feel insecure when they go to bed at night simply because resources that are intended to protect lives and property are being diverted to political programs of the CDC. The Chief Executive consolation was for you to look after your own security.
“The CDC is already running campaigns in the counties with money and resources that belong to the Liberian people. That was five years ago and all of you know that nothing has changed as promised with less than one more year to go before elections.
“Every child, woman, man, boy and girl in this country continues to feel the economic hardship created by the Weah led Administration and I can safely say that nothing is going to change. Fellow Liberians, I urge you to stand up and make a decision that will better your lives and that of your families.
“This government will not improve your lives, they loot and give you peanuts, the resources are yours so they are not doing you any favors by donating crumbs of stolen money and resources including vehicles and motorcycles that will not last. You have a responsibility to stand up for the future of your children and posterity. If you fail to do that, then you have mortgaged the future of this country,” the Unity Party Standard Bearer intoned, noting that his New Year message is one of hope and peace, heralding a new page in October 2023.
“Ask yourself this question, what has changed in my life, what has changed in Liberia, or is my life better than five years ago? No! All Liberians know that our situation in the nation continues to get worse and there is no sign of any improvement whether it is in the provision of basic Services, health, or education.
“In all this, I encourage you to remain resilient, strong, and courageous and take nothing in exchange for your vote. We will change that ugly situation at the polls in October and bring back credibility and respect, rule of law and accountability to the governance of Liberia, all looted resources will be restored to the People. Happy New year and season’s Greetings,” Ambassador Boakai stated.
