MONROVIA: Former Grand Gedeh County Representative George E. S. Boley says the Chairman of the Independent National Commission for Human Rights (INCHR) Cllr. T. Dempster Brown is “a pathological liar whose behavior is both cowardly and treacherous” to have accused Dr. Boley that he killed his mother, considering the claim by Cllr. Brown as “reckless and irresponsible.”
He was reacting to reports from a recent press conference by the Chairman of the INCHR to express his commission support for the War and Economic Crimes Court. During the conference, Cllr. Brown attacked Dr. Boley, accusing him of killing his mother during the deadly Civil war.
But Responding to Cllr. Brown’s allegation against him, Dr. Boley said he is not a Killer as he was being accused, and blamed some members of the press who circulated the allegation of Brown which is intended to defame him without verification.
The Liberian educator and former legislator was responding to an allegation by the INCHR Chairman that he Boley allegedly killed Cllr. Brown’s mother during the Liberian Civil war during which he Boley led the Liberia Peace Council, a counter rebel movement that fought against Charles Taylor’s National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL).
In his response at a press Conference in Monrovia yesterday, Dr. Boley was emphatic saying, “I did not kill Brown’s Mother and have never authorized the killing of anyone in my life.”
The former Liberian warlord indicated that ‘by circulating the dastardly lies’ about him, the media is a party to aiding and abetting the vain and self-Centered desire of Cllr. Brown.
He furthered that the journalists attributing to him acts of notoriety without attempting to get his version of the story is in total violation of journalist principles, adding, “This is the kind of free press we have in Liberia.”
Giving the gravity of the allegation, Dr. Boley maintained that the onus is on Cllr. Brown to produce the evidence rather than flirting and grandstanding with the media and bringing into disrepute the integrity and credibility of the commission in Liberia which he leads.
According to Dr. Boley, Cllr. Brown has the authority by virtue of his position and the Act which established the commission to investigate and subpoena anyone known to be in violation of the human rights of another person.
“Dempster Brown’s failure to exercise this awesome power suggests that he is woefully incompetent and has no evidence to support his allegation against me,” he lamented.
He emphasized that Cllr. Brown has chaired the commission for several years adding, “Why has he not investigated me as mandated by authority by the power invested in him and the commission.
“I challenge Cllr. Brown and the purveyors of this slanderous and baseless allegation to produce the evidence which said the allegation must be publicly retracted.”
The former Grand Gedeh County District #2 Representative has strongly described Cllr. Dempster Brown as “grossly incompetent, lacks integrity, failed miserably to execute the mandate of his commission.”
He said “Cllr. Dempster Brown as head of the commission is a National disgrace, indicating that he must be removed from this very critical institution for peace and security in Liberia, as well as to maintain the credibility of the commission.”
