High Court to Hear Tweah, Others’ Case -Defense Counsels, Prosecution Face Off June 1

MONROVIA – At long last, the Supreme Court of Liberia will on July 1, 2025, hear the petition for a writ of prohibition filed by lawyers representing former Finance Minister Samuel Tweah and three others in a high-profile economic sabotage case.

The court in its notice of assignments said: “You are hereby commanded to notify the Parties in the Above-Entitled Cause of Action or their Legal Representative(s) that the Honorable Supreme Court of the Republic of Liberia will hear ARGUMENT in said cause on the 1st day of JULY A.D. 2025, at the hour of 11:00 am”.

Judge Roosevelt Willie, in February of this year, was appointed to preside over the alleged economic sabotage case involving former Finance Minister Samuel Tweah and others at Criminal Court C.

The trial involved former Finance Minister Tweah, Cllr. Nyanti Tuan, former Acting Minister of Justice; Stanley S. Ford, former Director General of the Financial Intelligence Agency; D. Moses P. Cooper, former Financial Intelligence Unit Comptroller; and Jefferson Karmoh, former National Security Advisor.

They all worked on the National Security Council (NSC) under the Weah government and charged with Economic Sabotage (Fraud on the Internal Revenue of Liberia, Misuse of Public money, property, or record; Theft and/or illegal disbursement and expenditure of public money), Theft of Property, Money Laundering, Criminal Facilitation and Criminal Conspiracy.
