Foreign Minister Nyanti On First Diplomatic Assignment -Attends AU 44th Ordinary Session in Ethiopia
MONROVIA: Liberia’s Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti is in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to attend the 44th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union and will represent H.E. President Joseph Nyuma Boakia at the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State, as Head of the Liberian delegation. Foreign Minister Nyanti departed the country Wednesday, February 14, 2024, and is expected to be among African Ministers of Foreign Affairs and dignitaries from across the African Continent.
According to a Foreign Ministry dispatch from Ethiopia, the 44th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council will be held from February 14-15, 2024, at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa.
The African Ministers of Foreign Affairs will adopt reports of the ministerial meeting organized by the African Union Commission during the period under review.
Meanwhile, the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government is scheduled to take place from February 17-18 2024.
Leaders of several African countries are arriving in Addis Ababa to attend the 37th Ordinary Session of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union which commences on February 17, 2024.
Leaders and senior government officials of 10 states, including Libya, Algeria, Angola, Djibouti, Liberia, South Sudan, Namibia, Benin. Sierra Leone, and South Africa, arrived in Addis Ababa on Wednesday.
The delegations are represented by their respective Presidents, Vice Presidents and Prime Ministers as well as Foreign Ministers respectively.
The delegations were accorded warm welcome by Ethiopian top government officials and AU Commissioner upon their arrival at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airports, the dispatch signed by the officer in charge of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emmanuel Mensah, concluded.
The trip by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Joseph Boakai government is the first diplomatic mission of the Minister Beysolow Nyanti, a former United Nations Envoy who has returned home to ship the Foreign Policy direction of the Republic.
Madam Nyanti is the Political Leader of the newly established African Liberation League (ALL) political party in Liberia. She contested the just ended October 2023 general and presidential elections unsuccessfully.
