MONROVIA: The Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) has said it will announce its full campaign team today, Friday, August 18, 2023 at the National Headquarters of the party on 19th Street, Sinkor, Monrovia which is expected to done by the Standard Bearer and Political Leader, Alexander B. Cummings and will be in charge of organizing and executing all the campaign activities of the CPP to ensure victory in the pending October 10, 2023.
The news of this very important program of the party was made public by Mr. George Wisner, an executive member of the party when he called in on a talk show program aired on the OK FM 99.5 Wednesday and told the listeners that the announcement will transition Team Cummings, outreach organ of the CPP which has been pursuing the presidential ambition of Mr. Cummings, to a more enlarged, inclusive and robust campaign team that will now market the entire campaign activities, including mobilizing support for its presidential ticket and those of the legislative candidates.
“Yes the official naming of the Campaign Team will be today, Friday, August 18, 2023 at the National Headquarters of the party on 19th street, off Tubman Boulevard At the program, upon the announcement of the campaign team, Team Cummings which has been spearheading the campaign activities of the party will transition to this campaign team which will now take up the responsibility of organizing and executing all the campaign activities of the party, including the presidential ticket and all the aspiring lawmakers”, he said.
Wisner said based on the electoral act that forbids parties from fielding campaign teams before the official declaration of the campaign period, CPP as a law abiding political institution decided to use a platform, Team Cummings, to be engaging the electorates as well as strategizing how to launch out on a full scale upon the declaration from the National Elections Commission (NEC).
He said the initiative worked well for the party as it has been able to reach out to a large number of Liberians, especially the legally eligible voters who will decide on Election Day who they are going to vote for. He lauded all the members and supporters of the CPP who offered their services and useful inputs for the success thus far.
The CPP official also used the occasion to confirm the resignation of two key officials of Team Cummings in Nimba County, Messrs Fong Zuagele and Paul Wheyee but did not dwell on the reasons they quitted their portfolio. He however said that some of these resignations are strange in the political environment where people make decisions based on their own personal reasons.
“Yes I am aware that Mr. Fong Zuagele, who has been serving as Head of Team Cummings in Nimba County has written that he has resigned. Mr. Zuagele was indeed the head of the team Cummings and head of the campaign in Nimba County up to the count down to the launching of this committee, who believed in the vision of Mr. Cummings and he was one of the most enthusiastic followers of Mr. cummings, we wish him well in his future endeavors.
“These are political times, there are temptations here and there, people define what their interests are at a particular point in time, but then it is good you allow people to have their free will. We have the ruling party, we have the Unity Party, we have the CPP, all of them are reaching out to individuals who have to decide what party suits them according to how they define their individual interests as I said before”, he said.
It can be recalled that upon his unanimous election as the standard-bearer of the CPP, Mr. Cummings announced a compact team of seasoned politicians, party loyalists and other enthusiastic supporters drawn from various backgrounds, which included Dr. Togar McCintosh, Ambassador Lewis Brown, Liberty Party Secretary General Martin Saye Kollah, Alternative National Congress (ANC) Aloysius Toe, among others.
