Commerce Ministry Reacts To MOVEE Executive

The Ministry of   Commerce and Industry is calling on those who may not understand its workings to desist from making “irresponsible, reckless, and unsubstantiated” allegations against the Entity.

The Commerce Ministry also called on clergy- turned politicians to focus on their work instead of engaging in the discussions of critical issues they know little or nothing about.

In a release, the Commerce Ministry says that knows of its role and responsibility to the Liberian people and is making frantic efforts to address challenges in the Liberian business sector.

The release stated further that while the Commerce Ministry welcomes the right for the public to comment on national issues, such utterances should be based on facts, knowledge, and truth rather than falsehood, ignorance, and willful attempts to ruin the reputation of others in society.

The Commerce and Industry Ministry’s statement is in reaction to comments attributed to Vice Standard Bearer of the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) Rev. Dr. Samuel Reeves.

Rev. Reeves, whose party lost in the 2017 Elections, accused the Commerce Ministry of doing nothing to regulate the prices of basic commodities on the local market.
