Boakai Bids Citizens, Friends Sojourning ‘Prosperous New Year’ -Makes Assurances on Delivering on ARREST Agenda

MONROVIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has delivered his new year message to the country, areassuring citizens and foreigners alike that his administration would in the new year remain steadfast in addressing the issues that matter most to all.

He said the focus of governance would be the implementation of the administration’s flagship development plan, ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development-AAID.

The President called on Liberians at home and abroad to reflect on the journey of last year together and renew their commitment to envisioning a brighter future for the country.

“The year 2024 offered both triumphs and challenges,” he said in a statement on the eve of the new year. “We join together in humble gratitude to the Almighty for His blessings and for guiding us through the past year.”

According to him, together, “we have laid a foundation for a Liberia that emphasizes inclusivity, compassion, peace, and a collective pursuit of prosperity,” expressing deep gratefulness for the resilience and unity Liberians and friends of the country demonstrated in the face of adversity.

“As we step into this New Year, I reassure you that my Administration remains steadfast in addressing the issues that matter most to us all,” the Liberian leader said. “Our focus will be the implementation of our development plan:  ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development-AAID.

He outlined a couple of things his administration would embark upon, including strengthening the economy, by creating job opportunities, supporting small businesses, and ensuring equitable resource distribution; enhancing education and healthcare so that all Liberians can access quality services that empower them to thrive.

The President also spoke of promoting transparency and accountability: within government institutions to build trust and reinforce confidence in our leadership, and fostering unity and reconciliation across the nation, recognizing that diversity is a strength and that progress is achieved when everyone works together.

He urged all public officials to serve with integrity and humility, prioritizing the needs of the Liberian people, adding, “Together, we must confront complacency, eliminate corruption, and ensure that every decision reflects the collective good.”

To the youth of Liberia, Mr. Boaksai said, he saw incredible potential, dreams, and determination and that his administration remained dedicated to creating an environment where their aspirations shall flourish.

Speaking to women and girls, the Chief Executive pledged to uphold their rights, protect their dignity, and create opportunities for them to lead and succeed in every aspect of life.
