Bility Condemns ‘Lawlessness & Disorder’ in UP Regime -Queries Boakai’s Silence; Asks for Sacked Civil Servants’ Reinstatement

MONROVIA- It seems the widely perceived arbitrary actions by officials in the Joseph Boakai administration are touching the nerves of not only the victims but also some prominent members of the Liberian society. Specifically, the administration’s attack on the livelihood or jobs of citizens in what some called ‘an unconscionable manner’ continues to spread venom and ire just as it is spreading misery and poverty around the country. Instead of sitting and wailing without doing and saying something about this very tragic governmental tendency, which is claiming increased number of victims, Nimba County Representative Musa Hasan Bility is not cowering. In his characteristic manner, he resorted to his social media page to speak truth to power—communicate his consternation to President Boakai. The Analyst reports.

Criticisms against president Joseph Nyuma Boakai and his administration for viciously targeting nonpartisans for “labor harassment and bully” continue to mount almost without impact on the government. One thing, some Liberians are not relenting also; they continue to raise their voices in varying ways and channels.

Nimba County District #7 Representative Musa H. Bility is also not drawing back at all on the matter. For two days, Bility used his much-followed Facebook page to pinch on President Boakai  “the detestable predisposition of the Unity Party government to purge nonpartisans from Government.

In his first yesterday, August 14, 2024, Bility posited: “Dear JNB, I write to express deep concern about the recent actions of some of your officials which I believe are unconstitutional and unruly.”

He made specific current reference to what he “troubling” information he said he heard regarding Mayor of Monrovia’s decision to dismiss civil servants for speaking out against the government.

The Nimba lawmaker told the president that such actions pose a threat to the peace and security of our country.

“As President, it is essential that you take charge and address these issues,” he said. “Your silence on these matters is contributing to a sense of lawlessness and disorder.”

According the Bility, “there have been too many violations of the constitution without appropriate action.”

He urged Boakai to “take control of your government before the situation worsens. I also urge you to immediately reinstate the dismissed civil servants. I sincerely hope that my concerns are taken seriously”.

In another post released a day before, he wrote: “Mr. President, it is imperative that you rein in your CSA Director General. He does not have the authority to infringe upon the rights of civil servants guaranteed by the Constitution.”

Bility averred that if President Boakai fails to act, “it will be evident that you are using him to purge the Civil Service.”

The ranking member of the House called on the president to reassert control over the CSA boss, “or we will be compelled to take action ourselves.”

“Consider this a warning,” he noted.
