Paula White-Cain Graces Liberia’s 179th -Trump’s spiritual adviser leads delegation

MONROVIA – Nine years ago, in her Hilton office in Washington, D.C., President Donald Trump’s spiritual adviser, Pastor Paula White-Cain, prayed over a visiting Liberian Vice President named Joseph Nyuma Boakai and told him that God said he would day be President of Liberia – and this July, with that word long since fulfilled, the celebrated evangelist is coming to see the prophecy in the flesh. The Government announced Thursday that White-Cain will serve as the official United States delegate and special guest at the nation’s 179th Independence Day celebrations in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, a visit officials say reflects the deep and enduring relationship between Monrovia and Washington, as THE ANALYST reports.

A Prophecy in a Hilton Office

The story behind the visit reaches back to early 2017, when then-Vice President Boakai traveled to the United States at the invitation of the newly sworn-in President Trump to attend the first National Prayer Breakfast of the Trump presidency.

Following that gathering, the Vice President and his delegation – which included THE ANALYST’s publisher, Stanley Seakor – called on Pastor White-Cain at her Hilton office in Washington, D.C., where the evangelist received the Liberians warmly and offered prayer over the delegation.

It was after that prayer, according to Mr. Seakor, that White-Cain turned to the Vice President with a startling declaration: God had said that he, Boakai, would be President of Liberia, and he should keep his faith in God and do the things God wanted him to do.

She gave no timetable, and events would soon test the word – the October 2017 election came and Boakai was defeated, retreating into what associates describe as patient waiting on God’s time.

Then came 2023, and with it the fulfillment: Joseph Nyuma Boakai was elected President of the Republic of Liberia, and the prophecy spoken in a Washington office six years earlier had come to pass.

Official US Delegate to July 26

Against that remarkable backdrop, Information Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah disclosed at the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing Thursday that White-Cain will join President Boakai, government officials, diplomats, religious leaders, and other distinguished guests at the July 26 national celebrations in Buchanan. He described the visit as a significant diplomatic and symbolic gesture reinforcing the historic friendship between the two countries, saying the participation of one of America’s most influential Christian leaders demonstrates the importance both nations attach to their longstanding partnership.

According to the Minister, White-Cain’s attendance comes as Liberia commemorates its 179th Independence Anniversary under the theme “Strengthening National Identity Through Liberian-Led Development.”

Her presence, he noted, will add a unique spiritual dimension to the national observance while strengthening diplomatic, religious, and people-to-people ties between Monrovia and Washington.

Who Is Paula White-Cain?

Widely recognized as one of President Trump’s closest and most trusted spiritual advisers, White-Cain currently serves as Senior Adviser to the White House Faith Office and has been a prominent figure in the American evangelical movement for decades.

As founder of Paula White Ministries, she has built an international ministry through preaching, humanitarian outreach, television broadcasts, and leadership conferences, earning recognition as one of the most influential religious voices in American politics.

Her relationship with Mr. Trump stretches back more than two decades and has seen her play a pivotal role in his faith outreach.

She chaired his Evangelical Advisory Board during his presidential campaign, became the first female clergy member to deliver the invocation at a U.S. presidential inauguration in 2017, and was later appointed to lead the White House Faith Office, where she works to strengthen partnerships between the U.S. government and faith-based organizations.

Faith Diplomacy on Display

Officials say White-Cain’s relationship with Liberia extends well beyond diplomatic protocol.

During the U.S.-Africa Leaders’ Summit in Washington in July 2025, she publicly prayed for President Boakai, affirming what officials call spiritual solidarity and mutual respect between the two leaders – an encounter government sources believe laid the foundation for her participation in this year’s Independence celebrations.

Political observers see in the visit the increasing role of faith diplomacy in international relations, particularly between nations with historical connections spanning nearly two centuries, as Liberia and the United States share.

With cooperation in governance, education, security, health, and economic development remaining central pillars of the partnership, analysts say the presence of a senior White House faith adviser will draw international attention to the Buchanan festivities and bring together faith, diplomacy, and national pride in a single event – making this year’s celebration, for many Liberians, historic in more ways than one.
