MONROVIA – The House of Representatives of the 55th Legislature hosts renowned Liberian scholar and policy expert Dr. Robtel Neajai Pailey, Assistant Professor in International Social and Public Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), as a special guest during its regular plenary session today, Tuesday, July 7, 2026, where she is expected to deliver a presentation examining how race, citizenship, and migration have shaped development in Liberia and Sierra Leone. As THE ANALYST reports, the legislative dialogue, announced by the House’s Directorate of Press and Public Affairs, forms part of the Lower House’s continuing effort to engage experts, scholars, and policy practitioners on issues of national and regional importance with implications for governance and public policy.
Dr. Pailey is expected to speak on the topic: “Africa’s ‘Negro’ Republics: How Race, Citizenship and Migration Impact Development in Liberia and Sierra Leone,” according to a release issued by Robert Haynes, Director of Press and Public Affairs of the House of Representatives.
The presentation is expected to provide lawmakers with historical and contemporary perspectives on the intersection of race, citizenship, migration, and national development, with particular emphasis on Liberia and neighboring Sierra Leone.
