MONROVIA – The lives of Senator Conmany B. Wesseh of River Gee and his legislative aide, C. Anderson Chea, are said to be threatened by Mr. Tarplah “Zoely Zoe” Davis after Mr. Chea raised the alarm and wrote a formal complaint to the offices of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Patrick Sudu, “to take prompt action”.
Narrating the situation in the letter he addressed to the IGP, Mr. Chea who is the Legislative Research Assistant in the Office of Senator Wesseh, said Davis’s alleged action comes from the role played by Senator Wesseh during the confirmation of Mr. Davis when he was nominated by President George Manneh Weah to the position of Deputy Minister of Defense for Operations, but was rejected by the Liberian Senate.
“On Saturday, March 4, 2023, near a local entertainment center, “Orange Tower” in the Township of Caldwell, Mr. Tarplah Zoely Zoe Davis, along with some of his men, rushed on me and attacked me for being a staff of Senator Conmany B. Wesseh. First, he said “Is this the Conmany Wesseh man who influenced his colleagues to reject me during my confirmation hearing, saying that I have a fake degree?
“In an angry mood, Mr. Davis said he has a recording in his possession that my boss Senator Conmany B. Wesseh, influenced his colleagues, to have him rejected by saying “you guys will see”. While his men were already surrounding me, people present came to my rescue by intervening into the allegation.
“I am writing to you in order to put an end to the unprovoked, groundless and cruel threat on my life. I want to be clear that Senator Conmany B. Wesseh was performing the constitutional duty of confirming or rejecting presidential nominations. As I considered this as a serious threat, I am calling on the Liberian National Police to take a very prompt action”, Chea stated in his letter.
Coming on the heel of the recent attack on the residence of a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott by some unknown assailant which claimed the life of a niece of the jurist, Miss Cherloe Musu, and injuries to others and other unresolved deaths and attacks in the country, the alleged threat is being seen as serious in many cycles, not to be taken lightly.
The incident is also said not to augur well with the need to have adequate security of lives and property put in place by the government especially as the country begins crucial stages of the ensuing general elections.
