Women Group Wants Mary Broh Contest 2020 -Says She Possesses the Pedigree for Mont. Senator

MONROVIA – Under the banner, Vision in Partnership (VIP), a group of young women has been initiating steps to petition General Service Agency (GSA) Director General Mary Tarnyonnoh Broh to contest the 2020 mid-term senatorial elections slated for October. The group has concluded consultations with other women organizations and political stakeholders in the Township of West Point to support the initiative intended to drive Madam Broh to the House of Elders, the Senate.

A release issued and signed by Director/CEO of the Vision in Partnership, Ms.  Wanna Tutu Wesseh, states the group and the women of West Point believed that Madam Broh has the requisite education, the political and leadership experience to serve the people of Liberia at the level of the Liberian Senate in the National Legislature for Montserrado County.

Although women of the Vision in Partnership is yet to approach Madam Mary T. Broh on their intention to petition her to contest the Senatorial seat for Montserrado, Madam Wesseh said the group has constituted a high-power delegation to meet with Madam Broh in the coming days to inform the GSA boss to consider their request before the former presentation of a petition to that effect.

The group is also had consultation with the local leadership of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) in that community to support the organization’s quest by allowing Madam Broh to contest the senatorial elections on the ticket of the CDC”, the release noted.

The release also noted that the group and women of West Point Township have realized that Madam Broh should consider their request in order to salvage the present downward trend of Montserrado’s appalling socio-economic and politically standing which does not represent its position as the first county in which the seat of the government is located.

She has served the county in different capacities in the past and has earned the admiration of the people of the country and Liberia at large, Madam Wesseh asserted.

According to Madam Wesseh, the astute public servant has long years of trusted public service records, coupled with her decision to accept job in the CDC government which shows that she is a reliable Liberian woman who understands the developmental vision of President George Manneh Weah and the government’s Pro Poor Agenda to enhance national development at every level of the Liberian society.

The group, according to Madam Wesseh, will launch a political victory campaign code named, “Women’s Operation Take Montserrado”, a campaign that she said will ensure that Madam Broh becomes the next Senator for Montserrado County at the end of the 2020 Mid-term Senatorial Election.

The group, therefore, called on the national leadership of the CDC to give Madam Mart Broh the golden political opportunity to contest the Senate Seat for Montserrado in the 2020 elections.

In their release, the women group accentuated that it is of the conviction that senior officials of the ruling establishment, having known the role and accomplishment of the GAS boss, will not hesitate but to endorse her candidacy to run for the Montserrado Seat at the Senate on the ticket of the CDC.

It can be recalled that the Secretary General of the Young Women Christian Association of Liberia (YWCA), Roseline Towne, called on women of Liberia to support women in the upcoming Senatorial elections. Ms. Towne made the call when she celebrated her 60th Birthday Anniversary.
