MONROVIA: The Secretary General of the University of Liberia Faculty Association (ULFA), Eric Panton says the decision by the Faculty Association to declare the Dean of the A. Romeo Horton College of Business and Public Administration, Dr. Lester Tenny, “Persona-non-Grata” to ULFA did not come abruptly, but that it is one that was guided by series of activities and behaviors that the general Assembly of the association deemed unacceptable to an academic space.
Mr. Panton said Dr. Tenny is fond of bullying professional people at the University some of which are recorded and in text messages, noting that Dean Tenny insulted the President of ULFA, Dr. Edna G. Johnny. “He has insulted a lot of professional people, threaten and intimidating them, only because he said he is connected to the President of Liberia,” Mr. Panton exclaimed.
The ULFA Secretary General expressed the belief that the President, of course, will not support the behavior of Dr. Tenny, pointing out “So the General Assembly took the decision to declare him Persona non grata to the Assembly, and that decision will be given this morning to the UL authorities.”
Amongst other things the Secretary General of the ULFA brought to the center stage of academic fraud when he mentioned that the Dean of the Business College of the University of Liberia by-passed the completion of his bachelor education at the University of Liberia when he went to do a Master’s Degree abroad.
“Dr. Tenny has no records of obtaining a bachelor degree; how did he manage to obtain his Master’s Degree,” Panton wondered, stating that Dean Tenny did not complete his undergraduate studies and ran to Nigeria where he managed to enroll for a Master’s Degree.
Mr. Panton further pointed out that it was this Master Degree from Nigeria that he used in South Africa to obtain a doctorate degree, stating “We will go after him; we will contact the Nigerian Embassy and that of South Africa to ascertain from the institutions that granted him higher degrees with his bachelor degree.”
In a release of July 21, the University of Liberia Faculty Association’s General Assembly declared the Dean of the A. Romeo Horton College of Business and Public Administration as a “Persona-non-Grata” to ULFA for continuous insults, intimidation and molestation of members of ULFA including the President of ULFA and other executive members of the Faculty Association.
However, Dr. Tenny denied the allegations stating that he did not insult members of the faculty association as alleged. The UL Business College Dean further clarified that he did earn his bachelor degree, adding, “If you are going to a higher institution, it is not only a degree required of you, you can also use your transcript.”
“When people operate under a cartel and syndicate, they collaborate with each other because they build unity amongst themselves,” Dean Tenny noted, adding, “Look, we are still grappling with the situation of fake credentials at the University of Liberia.”
Dean Tenny inquired, “How can the University of Liberia embrace people with questionable credentials? When people like me are trying to undo what has been systematically entrenched at the University, they build resistance.
Asked whether or not he earned a bachelor degree before his postgraduate studies, his response was, “My brother, my brother I completed the University Of Liberia Department Of Economics. If you follow the independent investigator Martin Kollie, all of those concerned were trashed.
I completed the Department of Economics, I was awaiting graduation but because of Taylor’s intervention, we left. We went for graduate studies and in fact when you go for studies, you don’t need a degree alone you could use a transcript.”
Meanwhile, contrary to denial that he did not insult faculty members, Dr. Tenny could be heard in an audio played on the Ok FM Morning Show insulting a faculty member.
