“We Will Establish the LNP Community Mass Choir” -IG Coleman Declares; Says the Church is his Solid Rock
Inspector General Gregory Coleman never misses an opportunity to showcase his religious upbringing, even in the heat of national duty service when he is addressing critical issues bordering on public safety and the preservation of lives and properties as part of the sacred duty of the Liberia National Police. Last week Sunday’s worship service at the Martha Tubman Memorial United Methodist Church was no different when Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman mounted the podium to proffer his appreciation to the body of Christ, an occasion which he also used to make a profound declaration – that his administration will be establishing the Liberia National Police Community Mass Choir as part the LNP’s community police outreach program, noting that the church is the only solid rock upon which his faith is hinged.
“By the way, let me announce officially that I grew up in the choir. As part of our community policing initiatives, we will be establishing our Liberia National Police Community Mass Choir. We stand with the church, we stand on this solid rock, and say yes, for the time is now,” IG Coleman said.
Speaking during the Martha Tubman Memorial United Methodist Church regular Sunday worship service, IG Coleman said growing up as a child in the church, he always favored the choir department, thus, this was his way of giving back to the church.
Continuing, IG Coleman said it was an honor and privilege to be back home worshipping with other members of the body of Christ.
“This is where our foundation lies. For those who do not know us and just see us out there and feel that we are just riding off political powers, our powers resonate on the solid rock. That’s why we can boldly stand.
According to Coleman, the situation with Liberia is comparable to the predicament that Esther faced in Biblical times when she was hesitating to speak while her people, the Jews, were being prosecuted.
“I was sitting and thinking and I thought about the interjection of Esther. She was told that if she didn’t rise up to speak at that time, the Jews would arise from some other place, but that the name of her family would be forgotten.
“As we find ourselves where we are as a nation today, there are numerous challenges, and some of us must just rise up and do what is right. But you can rest assured that we have the conviction upon which we stand. And that conviction is on the solid rock of Christ.
“As we move forward, it is our desire, hope and prayer that God will continue to move this nation forward.
“I know today Mama is happy. She has her boys here worshipping at home. But most of all, we remain committed to the cause of the Kingdom and we will continue to play our parts wherever we find ourselves,” IG Coleman said.
